Rodent Infestation

It’s that time of year again. You know, when rodents and small wildlife start to move in to your home because of temperatures dropping outside. If you think about it, your attic with the insulation up there is the perfect place to get warm.  Worse off their not even paying rent! How dare they! Truth is small animals such as rats can cause major damage to attics and crawlspaces. In attics, small animals such as squirrels, roof rats, raccoons, and opossum’s can tare up A/C ducting, chew thru wires, and thru time they destroy your insulation with urine build up. It doesn’t take long for rodents to destroy your attics insulation. All of this is happening right above your head!

Rodent Inspection

Most pest control companies offer free rodent inspections. Starting about mid November it becomes the majority of our business. On inspection a rodent specialist will inspect the attic for trailing thru the attic, droppings, chewed wires, nesting, and urine build up. The attic will also tell the wildlife specialist the level of infestation by how much of the above evidence is observed by your wildlife specialist. Upon inspecting the outside the rodent specialist should be able to determine how the rodents are getting in and what needs to be done to exclude the rodents from your home. With this information the rodent specialist should by able to give a bid on how much it will cost to get rid of your rodent infestation. This is usually priced by sq ft because the company is warranting the home and not just the areas repaired.

Rodent Exclusions

Rodent exclusions are the name given to rodent jobs involving excluding the rodents from the home or building. This can involve using several methods depending on job and job size. Some of the common methods might include removing the old insulation and replacing it with new insulation, setting traps, sanitizing and cleaning, closing entry points, applying repellents, etc. These jobs are also dangerous because they involve having to be or climbing to high places.
